Thailand's import & export of Toyota Vigo, Toyota Fortuner, L200 Triton, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Nissan Navara, Ford Ranger, and Chevy Colorado

History of Yasir and Soni Motors Thailand

The year was 1904 and many thought that the horse and buggy would continue to be the way to travel. One notable exception was a young Asian man of exceptional ability and bold vision. His name was M. A. Quraishi, and he saw the automobile as the vehicle to the future and he became the first Asian outside Japan to import a vehicle. Once he finally had a vehicle, his lifelong romance with the automobile began. His passion turned into a profession when friends, acquaintances and those who saw him driving the vehicles began asking him to import a vehicle for them as well. In 1911 he finally established Asia's first dealership outside Japan and since then the dealership he established continues to lead Asian automotive scene. The dealership now known as Soni Motors Thailand is under the leadership of third and fourth generations of Quraishis.

He felt that Asia was headed for a golden automotive era and his vision has been realized and the company he established has played an important role in bringing this vision to reality.

As the oldest family-owned dealership in Asia, the Quraishis have always maintained a unique relationship with all automobile manufacturers. Since its inception Quaishi dealerships have been a model for salesmanship, efficiency and service to the customer for all Asian dealerships to emulate.

Years ago it was written that M. A. Quraishi has but one hobby and that is service. "He lives service, breathes service and practices service. His predominant business policy is to render such uniformly satisfying service that there shall not be a single dissatisfied auto owner whether in his country or beyon." Mr. M. A. Quraishi had once said, "Service does not mean something for nothing, but it does mean prompt, efficient and courteous attention at a fair price." This founding business philosophy thrives today in every Soni business.

When automotive pioneer M. A. Quraishi passed away, his death was mourned far and wide among automotive circles not only in Asia but in Europe and the United States.

After his death the baton was passed on to his favorite son-in-law Amin Quraishi. Like his father-in-law, Amin was a civic leader and philanthropist of the first class and continued the leadership of Asian automotive industry in M. A. Quraishi's tradition of service and innovation. While Quraishi Senior had the difficult task of keeping the company afloat during Depression, the two World Wars and poor automotive technology, Amin had the vision and time to grow the company. Under his stewardship the company emerged as one of Asia's top dealership and also made great inroads in auto exporting.

Soni brought the business to Thailand's shores in 1981 during Mr. Amin Quraishi's tenure. He was a dedicated, honest, and respected individual with high values and had the same passion for automobiles as his grandfather. His instantaneous success in a new marketplace where he emerged as Thailand's largest independentedly owned dealership and introduced the concept of multi-brand dealership and was by mid-80s Thailand's most influential and followed dealership popular with both locals and expatriates. Then it made history again by becoming Thailand's first automotive exporter and as Thailand's grew in stature as Asia's premier auto exporter Son's reputation grew so much so that it is now the uncontested leader in not only Thaialnd automotive scene but also in Asia. According to a third party, Soni and its sister companies, now account for 80% to 90% of the automotive exporting market.

Richard J. Garber, Jr., was the third generation to take the helm of the company in its 73rd of operation. When he became president, he was the youngest Buick dealer for a dealership of its size in the nation. Since that time the organization has grown to nine dealerships located in three states, Michigan, Florida and Illinois.

The organization today is a long way from the 1911 version, but important traditions live on: dedication to service, low prices, quick delivery, honesty, a loyal staff and a forward-looking vision. One that echoes in the spirit of a young Asian aristocrat who took thousands of Asians out of the buggy and put them behind the wheel.
